My home crane model project is mocking me from the shelf
I spent all last month putting together a scale model of the tower crane I run. Got the cab and base done okay, but the jib came out crooked. Now it just stares at me, all wonky and wrong. This was supposed to be a fun side thing, but it bugs me every time I see it. Guess my skills are better with the real machine.

Wait, you can see it from the cab seat?

For sure, the cab gives you a clear line of sight. People don't get it until they sit up front. You spot things like animals or signs way earlier. It's a big advantage for noticing details. I've seen accidents almost happen from up there. Really makes driving safer from that height.

My buddy who drives a snowplow says the same thing about the cab view. He once saw a whole family of deer just standing in the road way before his car would have, and he had time to stop without even scaring them. It's like having a superpower for spotting trouble. That story from @murray.cora about the flawed model is funny, because from up high you see every little mistake on the road, too. Makes you wonder how people in regular cars miss so much.

Ugh, that's rough! My friend Nate built a scale model of his delivery truck and the bed was totally uneven. He said it felt like the thing was sneering at him from the coffee table every morning. It kind of ties into what @jessej23 mentioned about seeing details from the cab, because with a model, those flaws are right in your face, aren't they? He never fixed it, but he did move it to a less obvious spot so it wouldn't mock him as much.
