Unpopular opinion: A grill chat dig about my crane setup actually helped

Honestly, I was at a crew barbecue and this guy joked about how I always double-check my outriggers. Tbh, it was pretty embarrassing with everyone listening. He later showed me his visual method for spotting level ground fast. Ngl, I tried it next shift and it saved me a bunch of time. Just wanted to pass it on because it really works.

Public digs just hurt, they don't help.

Ever make fun of your own singing voice? Big mistake...

That reminds me of a friend who used to joke about being bad at cooking. She'd laugh about burning water, but then people stopped inviting her to potlucks. Self-deprecating humor can backfire hard when it starts to define how others see you. What's a harmless joke to you might become the only thing they remember.

Last year, I tweeted a dig at my own haircut. I mean, it was supposed to be a joke, but people started piling on and it kinda sucked. Maybe public jokes at your own expense just give others an easy target.
