DAE kill off a character too early and regret it?
Last month I wrote a short story for a contest. I axed a side character in chapter 2 because I thought it added shock value. But by chapter 5 I realized that character was the only one holding the plot together. I spent 3 days rewriting just to bring them back in a flashback. Still feels clunky. Has anyone else had to undo a death because it broke your whole story?

Did you try having another character pick up their scattered plot threads instead?
