Handwriting my outline beat typing it for this week's prompt thread
I was stuck on the prompt about a lighthouse keeper who finds a message in a bottle every morning for 40 years. For some reason I kept hitting a wall when I typed my outline on my laptop. So yesterday I grabbed a legal pad and a blue pen from my desk drawer and wrote the whole thing out by hand. Took about 45 minutes but the ideas just flowed differently. I think it's because typing feels too final, like I'm editing as I go. With handwriting I can scratch stuff out and circle things and draw little arrows. That loosened up my brain. Anyone else do this when they're stuck on a specific prompt? Or do you all prefer typing straight through and fixing it later?

Honestly, same here. Tbh, when I get stuck on a prompt I'll switch to handwriting too because it feels less like I'm grading my own homework and more like I'm just doodling out the story.
