Spiraled how? I see zombie stories as some of the tightest plots out there. The goal is always simple, survive and get somewhere safe. That focus keeps things moving. A good one strips away everything but the core struggle. It's about the pressure, not the sprawl.
How does a zombie story even manage to spiral? The whole point is it's super basic, survive and move. Did you try to add like, a political subplot about sewer rights? Once you start bringing in stuff like that, it's not a survival horror anymore, it's just a mess.
