Staring at my ceiling fan gave me a weird prompt idea...

I was trying to sleep last night and just watching the blades spin... It made me think about cycles in stories, how things repeat but change. Now I jot down random objects and what they could mean in a plot. It's helped me come up with twists I never would've thought of before... Simple stuff, really.

Yeah but overthinking every little thing can totally kill the flow. Sometimes a fan is just a fan.

Turning everyday items into story symbols can unlock new plot directions. It pushes you to find deeper meanings in simple things, which often leads to unique twists. Give it a shot with something like a broken clock or a locked door next time.

But does everything have to mean something deep? @karen_sanchez, sometimes a broken clock is just a broken clock, not a symbol for lost time. I've seen writers get so stuck looking for a hidden meaning in a coffee stain that they forget to write the actual story. A locked door can just be a locked door, you know? Not every object needs to unlock the plot.

Spot something simple like Karen Sanchez said.
