That week where everything I wrote turned into a detective story
Last Tuesday I tried to write a simple prompt about a cat stuck in a tree, and by Thursday my protagonist was uncovering a grift involving rare stamps and a missing librarian in Boise. I still don't know why my brain did that, but it made for a fun writing sprint. Has anyone else had a prompt that just ran away from them like that?

and then I wrote a grocery list and somehow a detective was tailing a suspect through the frozen foods aisle, looking for clues in the organic section. i swear my brain just decides it wants to solve a mystery with every single thing I type lately. It's like my inner voice is a noir narrator who can't help but turn a missing sock into a crime of passion. I tried to write a simple journal entry about my day and ended up with a whole backstory for a man who always wears a green hat. honestly, I'm starting to worry about what happens if my brain decides my to-do list is a cold case.
