Tried that 'write the ending first' prompt challenge last week, thought it was gonna be garbage but my short story actually came together way faster than usual
I wrote the last paragraph of a haunted lighthouse scene before anything else and the whole plot just snapped into focus around it in like 90 minutes, has anyone else had this work for them or was it a fluke?

Saw a writing professor say the same thing on a podcast once.

Professors on podcasts always make it sound so easy. Meanwhile I'm over here trying to write a simple email and ending up with three paragraphs about my cat. Guess I'll stick to reading instead.
