Walked through a library in Seattle that had a banned books display up front
Got to talking with the librarian who set it up. She argued banning books protects kids from dark themes, but the other display said banning restricts learning. What do you think - should writers hold back or push limits?

Wait the librarian actually said banning books protects kids?

Yeah cause nothing says "protection" like pretending difficult topics don't exist until kids stumble into them alone on the internet. Guess we should just wrap them in bubble wrap and hope for the best?

Ngl that's messed up, kids deserve the chance to think for themselves.

That librarian's got an interesting way of looking at it. Kids can handle dark themes way better than adults give them credit for. Protecting them from ideas usually just means they learn about them somewhere else.
