But isn't that the whole point of a soft check? Hard pulls are the ones that matter.

Hold up though, are we just going to ignore soft checks completely? They still show up on your report and companies can see them. It feels like people say it doesn't matter so they can check your info whenever they want. That's a lot of access to give out for something that's "not serious." Makes the whole system seem pretty shady.

Yeah, it's the financial version of "we're just looking." Soft checks are like window shopping, but for your whole life. The whole thing is a bit creepy when you think about it.
