My credit score jumped 40 points after I fixed a $150 medical bill error

I found it on my report from a clinic in Denver last year and disputed it online. Has anyone else had a surprise boost from something small like that?

Feel like I need to check my report now just in case I've been accidentally paying for someone else's parking tickets this whole time. My luck is just that bad sometimes. Glad you caught your error though.

Wow, that's huge for just one bill! It makes you wonder how many people have small errors dragging them down without knowing. I check mine every few months because a friend had an old parking ticket from a different state pop up out of nowhere. These reporting systems feel so fragile, like a single typo can mess things up for years.

Totally agree with you @nelson.vera. It's scary how a tiny mistake can stick around. My cousin had a medical bill reported twice under two slightly different names. It took him months of calls to fix it. These systems really do not seem built to help regular people.

Don't let that slide man, did the agency actually help you fix the error or did you have to fight them on it too? I keep hearing horror stories where the credit bureaus or city offices just pass you around between departments. Makes you wonder if the system is broken on purpose or if it's just that nobody cares enough to fix the little things.
