My sister told me my credit card habit was like a leaky faucet

She looked at my statements from last year and pointed out I was putting every tiny thing, like my $4 coffee, on my rewards card and carrying a small balance. She said the interest I was paying on that $150 balance each month was eating up any rewards I earned. I started using my debit card for small daily stuff and now only use the credit card for planned bigger buys I can pay off right away. Has anyone else made a small switch like that that actually helped their score?

Remember when they used to give out lollipops at the bank? My credit union had a jar by the drive-thru tube. That's the kind of reward I can get behind, no statement needed.

Honestly elliotm57, it's probably like a couple bucks a month. People act like it's the end of the world over coffee money. If someone's that tight on cash, maybe skip the streaming service for a month instead of stressing over pennies.
