14 months is rough but that timeline sounds about right for how slow credit bureaus move. They make you jump through hoops for months just to fix one tiny thing. Hope it was worth it in the end and your score bounced back fine.

Huh, @blairc90, did you end up seeing any actual improvement or did your score just sort of stall after all that effort?

14 months to fix a 3 year old mistake" man that's brutal but honestly so real. It's like once you mess up your credit even a little bit the system just punishes you way longer than the actual mistake was bad.

@sage_moore37 that whole "punished longer than the mistake was bad" thing is so spot on. For me, what finally worked (after a ton of failed letters) was filing a CFPB complaint online. Took maybe 20 minutes to fill out, and within two weeks Equifax actually called me to say they'd remove the error. 14 months is insane though, sorry you had to deal with that.
