Ignoring suspicious emails almost cost me my data

I used to quickly delete odd emails, sure they were harmless. A phishing email that looked just like my bank statement nearly got me last week. My friend who works in IT pointed out the tiny mistakes in the sender address. I now always double-check where emails really come from before doing anything. It's a simple step that keeps my information safe.

Look, most of these emails are so bad they're laughable. My spam filter catches 99% of them, and the ones that get through have grammar so terrible a kid could spot them. Spending minutes digging into headers for every weird email is a waste of time when the real problem is companies letting our data get loose in the first place.

Tell me about it, these scammers are getting way too good. I got one last month that looked exactly like a shipping notice, logo and everything. You almost have to be a detective now just to check your inbox. I mean, they put more effort into these fake emails than some companies do for their real ones. Glad you caught it in time, but who has time for all that? I guess we have to make time, or else.

Right? I feel like my spam folder is my new hobby. I spent ten minutes yesterday squinting at a "Netflix" email trying to see if the "l" was actually a capital I. Turns out it was legit and I just locked myself out of my own account. So much for being careful.

I get what you mean about not having time, but taking that minute to check is nothing compared to the hours you'd spend fixing stolen data. It's like putting on your seatbelt, just a quick habit that saves you later.
