Is password managers really worth it after that LastPass breach?

I used to swear by password managers until the LastPass breach in 2022 exposed a ton of vault data. Now I'm back to writing passwords in a notebook locked in my shed, but my buddy says that's way riskier too. Does the convenience of a manager outweigh the risk of a single point of failure, or am I just paranoid? I'm curious what everyone else does since that whole mess went down.

you know what's funny @emeryj66, I still have the old password from my first account written on a sticky note that's been in my wallet for like 8 years. the paper is all crinkled and faded but it's still there. meanwhile I had a paid password manager delete my whole vault once because I didn't log in for 3 months. notebooks don't pull that garbage on you haha

Makes you wonder how much we trusted those companies just because they had a fancy app. Feels like everything digital is getting less reliable by the year.
