My brother told me to stop using the same password for everything, and I'm glad I listened
He said it after my old gym's website got hacked about a year ago. I changed my main email password just in time, because a week later I got a bunch of weird login alerts from other sites. If I hadn't split things up, they would have gotten into my bank account too. Has anyone else had a close call like that from a single site breach?

Yeah that "weird login alerts from other sites" part hits home. I had my old gaming forum account get popped and they tried the same email and password on like six different game stores. I felt so dumb because my steam account almost got taken. Now I use a password manager and it's a lifesaver, even if remembering one master password is still a struggle for my goldfish brain.

My bank flagged three attempts from Brazil after that forum breach. The master password struggle is real, but those random alerts are what finally made it stick for me.

Honestly, is it that big a deal if they try the same password? Most sites have two-factor now anyway. I still use like two passwords for everything and nothing's been stolen. Feels like people just panic over every little alert.
