My entire Tuesday got wrecked by a fake invoice email
I clicked a link in an email that looked exactly like it was from our regular supply vendor, and it downloaded malware that locked my work computer. It took our IT guy in Chicago 4 hours to clean it up because the ransomware tried to spread across the network. Has anyone else seen these super convincing fake invoices lately?

Got a similar email from "our" coffee supplier last week. Almost clicked because we were low on beans.

Nearly got me last week too with a fake FedEx delivery notice. @mary_nelson71 is right about checking the sender email, that little trick saved me once when I saw a weird address pretending to be our bank.

Those fake invoices are brutal. Our office started checking the actual sender email address, not just the display name. Found one last week where it was a random Gmail account pretending to be our printer company. Hover over links before clicking, it shows the real URL.

Oh man, my buddy in accounting got hit with one last month. It looked just like his normal water cooler company bill, even had their old logo. He clicked the "view statement" link and his whole screen went dark with a scary countdown timer. Their IT had to shut down the whole billing department for a day. Those things are getting way too good now.
