My neighbor's router went from a default 'admin' login to a 16-character random password after his kid's laptop got a virus.

He saw a pop-up for a 'free game' on some sketchy site his son visited, and the whole home network got locked down for a weekend while they cleaned it up, which makes you wonder how many people are still just clicking on anything, right?

Ugh, way too many. That default password thing is a huge trap.

Switched mine the day I got it after reading one too many horror stories online. Wrote the new password on a sticky note and taped it under the router so I wouldn't forget it later. Feels like a small thing but honestly it's the easiest fix for keeping your whole network safe.

Tell me about it. My old router sat on "admin" for like two years before I found out. You just set it and forget it, right? Makes you wonder what else is wide open.

Yeah, that's the scary part. It's usually the other way around, where the virus gets in because the password was still 'admin'.
