Question about a weird trick for spotting fake login pages
I mean, I was checking my bank account on a public computer at the library last month and got that sketchy feeling, so I just typed a random password first and it actually went to a 'wrong password' page instead of an error, which totally gave away the phishing site.

That's a solid trick that saved me once too. Typing gibberish first on a sketchy login screen can really expose the fakes. Real sites usually just fail or lock you out, they don't thank you for a bad password.

Totally true about the gibberish test. My own password habits are so bad I'd probably get thanked by both the real site and the fake one. Like if I type "cat123" and it says "Great password, welcome!" I'm still not sure who's scamming me.
