Shoutout to the IT guy at our office for his password advice
Our IT guy told me last year to never reuse passwords across work and personal accounts, but I blew him off. Then a random data leak from an old shopping site gave someone my login, and they tried it on my work email last Tuesday. Anyone else ever get burned because you didn't listen to simple advice from someone who actually knows their stuff?

Same thing happened to a neighbor of mine. She used the same password for her Netflix account and her bank login. Someone got into the Netflix from a dump on some shady site, and within a week they were draining her checking account. It's wild how people treat passwords like they're just a minor inconvenience instead of the only lock on the front door of their whole digital life. We seriously need to start treating this stuff like we treat locking our car doors at night.

oh and that neighbor story @allen.iris mentioned is exactly why i started putting my passwords on sticky notes under my keyboard. not even joking my brother found one and used it to order pizza on my doordash account and i didnt even realize til the charge hit. passwords are basically like leaving your house key under the mat except everyone knows the mat trick by now.

My old boss used "password123" for everything and I learned that lesson the hard way too.
