Hot take: I told the same three dad jokes for 15 years before my nephew called me out
I was at my sister's barbecue in Des Moines last summer, telling my classic 'why did the chicken cross the road' joke for the thousandth time. My 12-year-old nephew rolled his eyes and said 'Uncle Wade, you've been recycling the same puns since I was born.' So I pulled up my phone and realized every joke I knew was from a 2003 email forward. Has anyone else had to rebuild their whole joke collection from scratch after a brutal reality check?
Download a joke app and just steal from there. I did that after my niece hit me with the same reality check, and now I rotate through like 20 new ones a month. Also, hit up open mic nights at local bars, comics drop free material you can borrow. Write the good ones in your notes app so you actually remember them. Dad jokes are a skill, you gotta put in the work like anything else.
