Serious question, is a slow buildup or an instant punchline better for getting a dad joke to stay in court?
I tested a long story joke about my kid's science fair volcano on my bowling team in Fresno and it got groans, but a two word punchline about a scarecrow got actual laughs. Which style actually survives the vote here, because I have 40 more of each and I don't want them all removed.
Wait, your bowling team actually sat through a whole story about a volcano? That part blows my mind more than the joke itself. I can't get my league guys to listen past one sentence before someone yells "get to the point." Short punchlines are the only thing that works for a crowd like that, they want the hit fast and then they move on.
