Told my kid a 3-part pun and he corrected my punchline, best day ever
Last Tuesday I dropped my son off at school and hit him with a knock-knock joke about a broken pencil. He stared at me and said, "Dad, that's pointless, but the timing is off." Then he rewrote the whole punchline on the spot and it actually killed. I've been telling that same joke for 8 years and never noticed the beat was wrong. Has anyone else had their kid roast their delivery and accidentally improve the joke?
Dad, that's pointless, but the timing is off." That line alone tells me your kid is gonna be a comedian or a critic, maybe both. Kids hear things fresh, they don't have the muscle memory of telling the same joke for 8 years like we do. Sometimes we get so stuck in our own rhythm we miss the obvious flaw right in front of us. Honestly, getting roasted by your own kid and having them make the joke better? That's a win in my book.
