Turns out I've been telling dad jokes wrong for 20 years
My 8 year old nephew called me out last week after I told my classic 'why can't you hear a pterodactyl go to the bathroom' joke. I always said the punchline with a straight face like it was a serious fact. He looked at me and said 'Uncle Beth, you gotta own the cringe, not fight it.' He then told the same joke but winked halfway through and added a little shoulder shrug at the end. The room full of adults actually laughed instead of just groaning politely. I've been delivering punchlines like they were concrete inspection reports this whole time. Now I'm trying to add a little showmanship but I feel like a grandpa trying to learn TikTok dances. Has anyone else gotten roasted by a kid for their joke delivery style?

Read a study that timing is everything in comedy, kids just know it.
