Big argument after my son found a tracking app on his phone
I added it to check his location when he's out late. He says his movements are his own data and I'm being controlling. Where should the line be for family data access?

Heard tracking your kid without telling them is a masterclass in how to lose trust.

What's the parent's endgame here, checking location during a school play? They find out their kid is... at school. Big reveal. Masterclass in trust issues, absolutely @lunah12. Kid gets a phone notification you're watching and it's over. That relationship is now a spy movie. Congrats on the new secret agent.

Oof, @claire872 nailed it. I'd make a terrible spy, so tracking me would be pointless anyway.

Totally agree with the spy movie take. It teaches your kid that you expect them to be doing something wrong, so they'll just get better at hiding things. You're basically training them to lie to you. The location data becomes useless because you've already lost the real connection.
