Can we talk about requesting your data from a big tech company?

I downloaded my entire activity archive from a major social platform last month, and the sheer volume of location pings from an app I barely use was genuinely unsettling. Has anyone else done this and been surprised by what they actually collected?

Remember trying to clear my search history on a different site once. It felt like a lost cause. The "clear data" button gave me a false sense of security, but then old autofill suggestions for places I looked up years ago kept popping up. It made me realize they probably keep a backup copy somewhere I can't even see or delete. That stuff just sticks around forever.

Did you hear about my friend who did that? He found a whole folder of audio clips from when his phone mic was supposedly off... creepy stuff.

Actually, they call it a download, not an archive.
