Caught my employer selling my location data through a free wellness app last month

I signed up for a step tracking challenge at work and found out in the fine print they were selling anonymized location data to a retail analytics firm. Has anyone else dug deep into those corporate wellness programs and found similar traps?

Bet they already got your data before you even read the fine print.

Actually CCPA requires companies to tell you what data they collect before they sell it, so they legally can't just grab it first. Still sketchy tho, just slightly less dystopian than people think.

I read this thing from the EFF that said companies can still collect your data without asking first as long as they give you a notice within 30 days... so basically they grab it and then tell you later. Makes me wonder how many of those "we updated our privacy policy" emails I've just deleted without reading. My buddy works in ad tech and told me most companies just bury the opt out button in a menu that takes five clicks to find. It's like they're following the law technically but making it impossible to actually use your rights.
