I chose to delete my entire Facebook history instead of letting them keep it

It took me a weekend in Denver to download everything, but now I control the only copy. Does anyone else feel like we're just renting our own lives back from these companies?

My old Spotify wrapped from 2017 is locked behind a password I can't remember. It's exactly what @smith.parker said, these digital scraps just get abandoned on company servers. Feels like we're building a museum of our lives but they hold the keys to the building.
