My $40 data broker report made me stop trusting 'free' apps

I paid a service to see what they had on me and found my old phone number, three past addresses, and a list of my estimated income. That data came from apps I used years ago. How do you even start scrubbing that info from the internet?

Actually, it's not that hard to clean up. You can opt out directly with the big data brokers like Acxiom or Epsilon. They have forms on their sites. It takes some time to do them all, but it works. I got my old address removed from two of them last year.

It's almost impossible to fully scrub it.

Yeah, I did the opt-out forms too. It took a whole afternoon but a bunch of my old info did come down after a few months.
