Pro tip: Ask for a data export before you sign up for anything
I was at a small coffee shop in Boise last month and their loyalty app required my phone number and birth date just for a punch card. Tbh I almost walked out, but then I asked the barista if they could export my data if I deleted the app later. She had no clue, so I emailed their support and they said they'd 'consider' it within 30 days. Ngl that made me start checking every app's data export policy before I even download it. Has anyone else gotten a straight answer from a company about this before committing?

That 'they'd consider it within 30 days' line would've had me walking out too. I used to just tap agree on everything, but hearing how vague they were about your own data definitely flipped my thinking.
