That $14 gym app sold my address to a debt collector

In Austin last month I switched gyms and skip the online signup, but the old app had my current info and sent it to a junk debt buyer for a $3 locker fee I never owed. I called their support and they admitted the data broker clause was buried on page 9, so has anyone else had a random service flip your location and billing history without asking?
