That conversation with the privacy officer at my dentist still sticks with me
I was sitting in the waiting room at Aspen Dental in Tulsa last March, and this lady next to me started talking about how the office's patient portal asked for access to her photos. She worked in corporate compliance or something. She said "they don't need your camera roll to schedule a cleaning, but they'll take it if you let them." That one sentence made me go home and delete half the apps I'd given storage permission to over the years. Has anyone else had a random stranger make you rethink your phone permissions?

Used to be one of those people who just clicked "allow" on everything without thinking twice. That lady's totally right though, gave me the same creepy feeling and now I check every single permission request before hitting yes lol.

Right? Same here. What was the app that finally made you stop and check? For me it was a flashlight app that wanted my contacts and location. Made zero sense. Now I actually read the popups and deny anything that feels off. Feels good to be in control.

That flashlight app is the classic example that got a ton of people to wake up. It's wild how something so simple needing your location and contacts was the red flag for so many of us. Now I treat every permission popup like it's asking for my social security number.
