Had a talk with my nephew about that Biden deepfake from last year

He said he didn't care if it was real or not because it matched what he already thought. That hit me hard because it means we're past the point of facts mattering for some people.

@drew_hart4 That "curating their own reality" thing you said @gibson.morgan really hits. It's like people have decided truth is whatever makes them feel comfortable. Hard to talk to someone when facts dont even matter to them anymore.

Why do people act like their feelings are the same as facts? It's like they think if they believe hard enough something is true, then it just is. I had a cousin try to argue with me about something that happened right in front of both of us, and he just kept saying "that's not how I remember it." It's exhausting. You can't even use logic because they've already decided what's real based on how it makes them feel. Honestly makes me wonder if we're all just living in different worlds now.

Read a piece in The Atlantic last week about this exact thing - people are basically curating their own reality now based on what feels right. It's scary because once you stop caring if something is real, you can justify almost anything. Feels like we're losing the whole foundation of having honest conversations.
