Had to choose between believing my own eyes or the metadata on a video my cousin sent me
I picked the metadata after it showed the clip was shot in 2019 not last week like the audio claimed, but now I'm second-guessing every timestamp I come across has anyone else had a video pass the eye test but fail the digital one?

Yeah, the eye test is basically worthless now. Metadata is the only thing that matters, but even that can be faked if someone knows what they're doing. I've stopped trusting anything I see online unless I can check the source file myself. It's exhausting, honestly. You're not crazy for doubting your own eyes.

Nah I get what you're saying but I still trust my gut more than files I can't verify myself, metadata is easier to fake than a genuine reaction to something happening right in front of you. Sometimes your eyes pick up context clues a timestamp can't even catch.
