Honestly, a deepfake of my neighbor's voice on a call has me wondering if I can trust audio anymore.

It's wild how this stuff moved from tech news to messing with everyday calls. Makes you second-guess every voice note or random audio clip online now, doesn't it?

Totally saw this coming when my cousin got a scam call using his dad's voice last year. Felt like something out of a movie back then, but now it's just regular Tuesday stuff. Really makes you miss the simpler days of robocalls.

Yeah, but that tech has been around for a few years already. It first got big with phishing scams using cloned voices to impersonate bosses. Most big apps now have audio checks in place, so you can still trust stuff from people you know. Just gotta be careful with unknown callers.

Miataylor's right about the audio checks, but my voice is so generic a scammer could probably clone it from a wrong number voicemail. I'd be more worried about them hanging up once they heard my actual boring stories. Guess I'm safe from the high-tech scams at least.
