I finally fell for one of those deepfake investment videos
Saw this clip last month of Elon Musk talking about some new crypto coin, seemed legit cause he was sitting in his office and everything. Lost $200 before I realized the whole thing was fake, his mouth was just slightly off. Has anyone else spotted these fake CEO videos floating around?

Those Warren Buffett ones are getting way too good though, even @kim.nina almost fell for it.

Honestly I used to think those deepfakes were obvious and nobody would fall for them. Then I saw one of those Warren Buffett videos and almost put money in myself before catching the lip sync was off. That $200 lesson is a bummer but at least you didn't lose more.

C'mon, even a bad deepfake catches smarter people than you'd expect when they're hyping up some "guaranteed return" pitch. If the lip sync was barely off, that's a pretty advanced fake already, not something a random person would catch without looking for it.
