That tropical fish in a freshwater lake example really gets me. I used to just laugh at the bad fakes because they were so obvious, but that kind of stuff is the point. If people don't even try to hide the lie, it makes you wonder what else is fake but done well enough that you never notice. It totally ruins the fun of watching those videos.
Used to roll my eyes at bad fakes too. Then saw the exact thing @gray_hernandez98 described, that tropical fish in a lake clip. Realized the bad ones make you question everything else you watch. Kinda kills the whole point of seeing cool stuff online.
Ugh, that's exactly it. You start doubting the real cool stuff. Like that amazing chainsaw carving video I saw last week. My first thought was if it was edited. Takes the fun right out. Now I just assume most wild clips are fake until proven real. Pretty sad way to watch things.
Wait, was it the kind where they're clearly reeling in a fish from a different ocean? I saw one where the guy was supposedly freshwater bass fishing but the "catch" was a bright tropical saltwater fish. That's not even trying to hide it.
