Pro tip: I finally spotted a deepfake after months of getting fooled
I've been training myself to spot AI faces for like 6 months now. Yesterday I saw a video of a politician giving a speech and something felt off about the eye reflections. I paused it and zoomed in on the pupils - they didn't match the light source in the room. Showed it to my buddy who works in media and he confirmed it was a fake. Has anyone else gotten good at catching these tells, or do you have a go-to trick for telling real from fake?

Wait, are you telling me you actually sat there counting seconds between blinks? That's next level dedication right there. I mean I've been staring at eye reflections and weird shadows but I never thought to time the blinking patterns. Now I'm sitting here blinking manually and it feels so awkward, like my brain is overthinking every single eye movement I make. The irregular timing thing you mentioned is wild, I caught myself watching a video of a speaker last night and started counting along and it totally threw me off because the pauses were all over the place. It's like once you start looking for it, you can't unsee the weirdness in every face on screen.

Did you check if it blinked at normal intervals or was it just me?

Did @dixon.james notice if the blinking was steady or if it seemed off? I used to think the whole blinking thing was just people being paranoid, but after watching mine for a while I have to admit it changed my mind. The pattern was definitely irregular, almost like it was trying too hard to look normal if that makes sense. I sat there counting seconds and it just felt wrong, like the timing would speed up and slow down without any reason. Now I check everything new I buy, because once you see it you cannot unsee it.
