Serious question, I saw a deepfake of a local news anchor in Phoenix saying wild stuff last week, and my dad totally bought it.

Yeah, and that's exactly why it is a big deal, @logan525. It stops being a dumb joke the second someone like your dad sees it and believes it. These things are made to look real, and they're getting harder to spot. If people start trusting nothing they see online, that's a real problem. What happens when a deepfake spreads bad info during an election or a crisis?

Ugh, that's rough. My aunt fell for one last year. I told her to always check the station's real website or social media for the same clip. If it's not there, it's fake. Also, listen close to the voice, it often sounds a bit robotic or off.
