Warning: that viral election clip from Ohio was doctored
Found out a clip everyone was sharing last week, the one showing a candidate stumbling over words in Columbus, was actually two different recordings stitched together. Someone on a fact-check site broke it down frame by frame and showed the audio was shifted by 0.4 seconds. I passed that video to my whole crew before checking it. Has anyone else caught a fake that looked totally real until you zoomed in on the background or hands?

Did you catch the part where the audio lag was only noticeable if you watched the speaker's mouth super close? That's the sneaky thing, they picked a clip where the person moves a lot so you blame the stumble on nerves. This is why I started checking the hands and the mic placement now, those are harder to fake than the words. Honestly, the worst part is knowing my cousin will still send that same clip next week like it's new info, since the correction posts never hit as hard as the lie. Makes you wonder how many other "viral moments" we've all cheered for were just this same trick with better editing.
