Hit 500 upvotes on a deleted post right before it got nuked, felt weirdly proud

Posted a rant about my landlord in a city sub, woke up to 500 upvotes and it was gone an hour later. Made me realize how fast things vanish around here, anyone else get a little attached to their deleted stuff?

Used to think posts were just throwaway content but honestly seeing that much reaction disappear made me realize we actually do build little digital moments that matter. Kinda changes how you value what you put out there.

Little moments is a stretch. Most of what we post is just noise that nobody will remember in a week. The stuff that actually matters is the personal stuff, like a photo of your kid's first game or a story about something real that happened to you. Not the hot take about some movie or the meme you reshared. Those are the things people actually connect with and that stick around. So yeah, some of it matters, but most of it is still throwaway.

I get what pat_stone is saying about "little digital moments that matter," but I see it different. A post that hits 500 upvotes then disappears is basically a ghost in the machine. It gave you a quick dopamine hit and then it was gone, like a conversation you overheard on a bus. The stuff that sticks with me isn't the number next to a deleted thread, it's the messages people send me personally or the help someone offered on a real problem. Those 500 upvotes were just a snapshot of a moment, not something that actually built anything lasting.
