My old YouTube video about fixing a lawnmower got deleted last night

I had a video from 2012 up where I showed how to replace the carburetor on a Craftsman mower. It had maybe 2k views total over the years. Last night YouTube sent me a notice saying it violated their spam policy and yanked it. No way to appeal either. I checked and it was just a straightforward tutorial with no links or anything. Anyone else lose old harmless videos to new rules?

Did they flag yours for spam too, I used to think YouTube was fair about old content until my 2013 repair video got hit last week?

Guess it depends on what you call "fair", right? I mean, yeah, their bots are dumb as rocks, but a 2013 repair video getting flagged sounds like a mistake, not some conspiracy. @sanchez.mary is right that the system's been trash for years, but half the time it's just a false positive you can appeal in two clicks. If it really mattered to you, you'd have fought it. Feels like people blow this stuff out of proportion.

Did they even tell you why it got flagged? Their automated system has been trash for years now, just randomly hitting old uploads. Feels like they don't care about actual spam, just easier targets.
