That 'deleted' YouTube tutorial got pulled mid-watch, saved me 3 hours
I was following this 42 minute rebuild guide for an old chainsaw carburetor, guy had a really clean setup. Halfway through step 6 the video just vanished, not even a 'video unavailable' page, just gone from my history too. Turns out the whole method was wrong, the manufacturer had a service bulletin about it from 2019. Has anyone else had a deleted video accidentally save them from a mistake?
Used to be the kind of person who grabbed every tutorial I could find and just followed it blind, figured the person making it knew better than me. Watched a guy fix a lawnmower carburetor once and he skipped a whole step about cleaning the fuel line, said it was a waste of time. I was ready to copy him exactly, but the video got yanked for copyright stuff halfway through. Turned out his shortcut caused a flood of gas leaks in the comments on another forum, and the real fix needed that cleaning step to work at all. That one deletion changed how I look at these things, now I check for any service notes or bulletins before I trust a random video.
