Back in 2019 I had to pick between a downtown Detroit office or staying remote

My old startup was getting its first real funding round, about $250k, and the lead investor really pushed for a physical office to build culture. The other option was to keep our fully remote setup and put that rent money into hiring another dev. I chose the office, a small spot in the TechTown area. It was nice for about six months, having everyone in one room. But then commutes ate into productivity, and when 2020 hit, we were locked into a two-year lease for a space we couldn't use. Looking back, that extra salary for a remote engineer would have gotten us further. Anyone else make a similar call on office space here that they regret?

Two-year lease in 2019?" That's just brutal.

Yeah, that's the kind of bad luck that follows a person.

Ever try to negotiate an early out? I had a buddy who got his landlord to agree by finding a new tenant himself, saved him like three months of rent.
