Checked out the new food hall in Corktown and the tech setup blew my mind
They have these digital menus that change prices based on how busy it gets, like a ride share app for lunch. Saw a burger jump from $14 to $18 in 20 minutes. It feels like a cool idea but also kinda shady for a neighborhood spot. Has anyone else seen this kind of dynamic pricing pop up around Detroit?

Saw the same thing at a coffee shop in Midtown last week. The board kept flashing "high demand" and my regular latte price kept climbing. @nguyen.angela is right about that slippery slope, it just feels like a bad way to treat people who live nearby.

high demand" flashing on a screen feels like a trick, not an honest price. It's like they're using technology to make you feel pressured to buy faster. I get that supply and demand is real, but playing with people's coffee price while they're standing there is weird. It makes you feel like a customer in a game, not a person buying a drink. They could just put a flat price and stick with it, right?

Yeah, I read a piece about this surge pricing for food, feels like a slippery slope.

I used to think surge pricing was fine, but calling it a slippery slope changed my mind.
