I finally got a chance to pitch my app at a Detroit startup mixer last month. It did not go well.
Was at the TechTown demo night, showing a tool for small shops to track inventory. My laptop crashed right as I got to the revenue slide. Had to finish from memory and my notes. Has anyone else totally bombed a big pitch in the city and come back from it?

Always bring printed backup slides, saved my pitch more than once.

My cousin had a big meeting with a bank and his whole laptop just died, right there in the lobby. He had to talk them through his business plan from memory for twenty minutes. Ever since then, he keeps a printed deck in his glove box. Makes you wonder how much we really trust these little machines, doesn't it?

Crashing a pitch is a gift. It shows you what breaks before real money is on the line. You got the hard part over with.
