Launched a simple website for my buddy's auto shop in Warren and got 12 calls in the first week
I threw together a basic one pager with just his hours and phone number, no SEO tricks or fancy design, and it brought in more leads than his yellow page ad ever did has anyone else seen old school simplicity beat the algorithms?

Ditch the fluff and focus on what actually matters - people just want to know your hours and a working number. I've seen the same thing with a local plumber's site, just his name and service area on a white background, and it pulled in way more calls than his overdone WordPress mess with sliders everywhere. The yellow pages are dead because folks don't want to flip through a book or fight a popup on their phone. Keep it to one page with the essentials, maybe add a map if you're feeling wild, and you'll beat most paid ads easy.

Oh wow, wait - did you say just his name and service area on a white background beat all those fancy sliders and popups? That's wild, but I guess people really just want the basics without the headache.
