Lost a $4,200 deal because I didn't check a voicemail for 3 days
Happened last Tuesday in Detroit. I was so focused on coding a new feature for our app that I ignored my phone notifications. Turns out a potential client left a voicemail saying they were ready to sign, but they had another offer too. By the time I called back Thursday morning, they had already signed with someone else. I lost a $4,200 deal just because I didn't check a voicemail. Now I set a strict rule to check messages every 2 hours no matter what. Anyone else miss out on cash because you got too deep in the weeds?

That "ignored my phone notifications" part really hit me. I think this is part of a bigger issue where we treat busyness like a badge of honor and ignore the simple stuff that actually pays the bills. Getting deep in the weeds is fine but when you start missing basic human connection like returning a message, you're just making your own life harder.

Nodding so hard I almost missed a text from my mom. Guess I'm part of the problem.
