PSA: downtown Detroit co-working spaces have quietly doubled their rates since 2021

I paid $150 a month at WeWork in 2021 and now the same basic desk is $300, there's no new amenities to justify it, so has anyone else just started working from a library or coffee shop instead?

Is this just how everything works now, quietly shrink until we notice?

yeah but is it really quiet if we're all just complaining about it online instead of doing something? like i get that libraries are free but i need to take zoom calls and those quiet floors are a nightmare for that. coffee shops are fine until you buy one drink and stay 4 hours, then you start feeling guilty. are people actually making the switch work or are they just dealing with it?

Are you finding that libraries are more doable than you expected? I switched to my local branch last fall and honestly it's been fine - they have these little study rooms you can reserve for an hour if you need to take a call, and nobody bothers you in there. The free wifi is actually faster than what I had at WeWork, which is kind of sad when you think about it.
