Put $500 into a local startup's app for scheduling service calls and it just... vanished.

The founder said they were pivoting to a new model and my credits were gone. Learned to check for a clear exit plan before putting cash into a beta. Anyone know a Detroit company doing something similar but more solid?

Ouch, that's brutal. I used to just trust founders at their word, but a loss like that makes you read the fine print. Now I always look for how I get my money out before I put any in.

Seems a bit much though. Most deals are fine if you just check the basics.

Ugh, my friend got burned the same way with a fitness app beta. They promised lifetime access for early backers, then the company just shut down and kept the cash. Honestly, it's why I won't touch a beta without a written refund policy now.
